Screw up

I don't know how but the first attempt at the ingredient cards was a failure. I'll see how much they cost to print them.

Box Art 1

This is the first box art. Now I need to draw the guy that hit him on the head.

Rules to look at

Here are the rules.

Painted Player Tokens

Here they are. Sorry I didn't post the picture when I actually finished painting them. The blue doesn't look bad in person. It only looks thin because of the camera flash.

If I have a bit of time (I'm working on other things right now) I'll try to touch up the red stripe on the soda jerk hat.

final recipe/ingredients

The final psds are all http://www.visupoint.com/unleashed/cook/ you can all have a looksy if you want. Or http://www.visupoint.com/unleashed/ingredients.zip is all of them flattened and orientated to print out. If you have any concerns or changes in mind this is your last chance because Ive already given shawn the link to print them.

Ive checked all the points making sure they add up correctly and made sure we have ingredients for each recipe. Some art is reused since I couldnt scan in some things but its only a few cards(haggis in particular).

Mother Russia

Well, the motherland has finally been rebuilt. :3

All kidding aside, here's the image of the board at 72 dpi, and a link to the full sizes and printout sheets in a ZIP archive (might be a few minutes on the upload). The garden area entrance ways are more clearly defined, so even the green-negative colorblind of us can see them. The Stairs nodes are in place, so our warp functionality is now implemented. Lastly, the vertical path tables were resized to one square to open up the pathway a little more. This should work well for our needs.

As for the idea to get the rules as concise and accurate as possible, I'm all for it. We can revise the rules from this blog supposing the latest rule set gets posted. Besides that, we only need to get a final verdict on haggis. I'm proposing a vote here and now in my comment area.

[EDIT: The ZIP is done uploading now.]

explaining in detail

Ok, Bryan yes they didnt read all the rules. And remember we have to treat everyone as stupid players. And the first thing they did as stupid players was not read fully. I thank them for being like that to. This is a prime example of what tons of other people might do. Know this also. People are lazy. But the fact till stands that in certain parts that the rules and and board were complicated. No worries now because everything has been sloved. What I was trying to say was... Yes it might be in the rules, but if we can manage to explain it by the interface on the board then thats even better. One word or image can sum it up on the board. The rules have to go into detail. Now what I ment by making the rules a page..., only if that was possible. Really what I ment was the shorter the better. By saying 1 page I am pushing us to try. Understand?

321 Contact and stuff

(Sorry I didn't comment on anything yesterday. I managed to forget to check the blog.)

Might as well use my GMail: BVinchkoski at gmail dot com

I didn't make any changes to the Mis-Chef cards. Shawn didn't think the changes were necessary.

The Player Tokens have been painted since Friday night, I just forgot to post a picture. I'll do that today. The yellow one might need another coat.

We have to make sure we have all of the ingredient cards. I seem to remember that I had to make Nori and Flour on Friday for the play test.

I vote that the 2 seasonings = 1 main ingredient rule be tossed out. It's too complex. Haggis can stay. I think it's pretty funny.

Personally, I don't think it's possible to make the rules only one page. The only reason we had to explain stuff at the play test was because the people playing didn't want to read the instructions, not because they were too complicated. I agree that they can be shortened, but not by a whole page. As far as I can remember from what the rules say, some things just need to be cleared up, like the drop-off space and the areas of the board (like the Mis-Chef tiles).

And for the record, the group at Gamers Guild did not read the instructions. If they did, they wouldn't have asked what rooms the different ingredients could be found in, or the significance of the point value next to the extra ingredients on the recipe card. I'm pretty sure those were in the rules.

Might as well

Okay, since the posting of the emails hath begun, here's mine:

glassedge [at] offdose [dot] com

I broke it down so crawlers wouldn't scavenge it, but you get the idea hopefully. Also, I'm working on the final iteration of the game board right now. I'll probably post it both here and on my web space, but either way Shawn can get his hands on it for printing. Cooking up more info soon (kekeke).

Sunday

I won't be able to make it, work. But if there are any changes let me know by e-mail. I will buy the card stock today and print them. But before I start printing I'll check my e-mail.

Game Plan

Try to meet for the last time at Monty before the game is due. If we all can make it be at Monty this Sunday at 1. I can understand if you are going to be a little late. Our goal is to work from 1 to 4. If we are finished with our half of the game please help others with theirs. I know if we dont get it done Sunday then we might not be able to get it done at all. Come on guys,.. with our powers combine....

The new school board

The board does run much better in smaller form and I say we should stick with it. Add 2 warps squares on either side of the board in the middle of the start zones. The tables that are closest to the start zones need to be limited to one square. We ran into problems . A person was in the MC square and was blocked in. He couldnt shove because if he did the other player wouldnt move. the table would stop the movement. Also on either side of the baord were the MC squares are right next to each other, put a table inbetween them if possible. We talked about the garden doors already. I dont think there is anything else with the interface of the board. We did a great job guys. I say after finals we need to celibrate. This game was original and that says enough!

Re-calculate the game

Be in mind guys that the more simple the game is. The more focused and more involed the player. So shove should only be a shove I believe. You dont have to roll to see if you shove them or make them lose an item. Too confusing. The more that the player has to look bad at the rules, the less interested they will be. So whoever said that the first group to test play this was busy wasnt necessarily wrong, but there is more to that. My group that I got to test play this were all busy too. Half of them were working on finals at the time. the others were at gamers guild. But the fact that we altered the board game after the first group did help. We made the game a little smaller and it speed-up the game and fun factor. This group also complained about the rules being too long in the rule booklet. They said to bring the rules down to one page. SO we might have to do that. If we can't that means that are game might still be a little too complicated. Also the interface in some parts of the board need to be explained.Like the center square. They werent quite to sure if that is where they need to go to dump there ingredients. So put a lable on top of the icon in the middle of the board and then explain it further in the rules. Further more I played with Fur and we both drew different recipes which is great. But the problem was that our recipes were completely different. Now of us had the same ingredients at all. That means that there was no challenge and no reason to really attack one another. Thus the value of the game goes down. Like I have been saying we need and I stress need to have at least 3 of the same ingredients in every recipe. It doesnt mean that all the 3 are in the main ingredients. Some could also be in the additional ingredients. Another problem arose that one recipe cards main ingredients were all found in the same room. That really isnt too fair for the others, but I will let you decide on that one. I will also post the images of what they wrote for our game. As for the haggus, some of them didnt care and 2 out of the 5 thought it wouldnt run well. Just because you think it will work because it is funny doesnt necessarily mean it will work out in the finsihed process. We only test played in our class a few times and everything wasnt in order. But when I brought it to gamers guild our runs were defined and everything. That is when the Haggus showed if it had the potential or not. We have all tried hard for this project. We all had ideas that we pitched to the group. not all of them were included. Maybe it is best to drop this one out.

Art Post 6

Alright, I have finished all the ingredients. They go as following. First page has a tiny bottle which can be played as spice, parsley, thyme or herbs. Then on the same page is watermellon, coconut, orange, grapes, apple, pineapple, banana and the stairs square. The stairs square is our warp. After test playing last night and then playing with brian. My friend Fur dropped by. We played with the warp and it worked out just fine. You dont use the warp as much as you think you do, but it is not a waste. It is used when necessary. It speeds up the playing process thus keeping the wanting to play more.

The next page has pear, a grilled lamb, lettuce, a bag of flour, turkey, and sea food. Sea food has: Crab, shrimp, lobster, and squid. Just in case you were wondering what I drew.

The next page is celery, cucumber, salt & pepper, and garlic.

The last page has pasta on it.

Any questions? I will try to work on the board game cover art tonight which is really this morning. Sorry for posting so late.
